20 Dec Solliance Integration activities becoming more visible
One of the highlights at Solliance in 2017 is undoubtedly our work with the integration of thin-film solar cells in various applications. The integration work is becoming more and more visible. Our experience with the technical challenges involved has increased considerably. This leads to a clear focus in the PV integration program.
Opportunities
In the past year we have spoken to with many parties from the construction and infrastructure sector. In these conversations it becomes clear that one sees that the energy transition is a fact. This change has a big impact on the way we will build and renovate our buildings and infrastructure in the future. At the same time, the construction sector is recovering from the economic crisis, a huge opportunity for a change. However, for many people, the easiest way to carry on is ‘business-as-usual’..
Chances in Innovation
In our conversations we have learned that there is insufficient linkage between the solar sector and the construction sector. And this link is critical to create collaboration that is leading to important innovations in building integrated solar systems, innovations that can create a big impact in the market. On the other hand, we have learned that the business conditions for large scale implementation of solar in the Netherlands, are developing positively. This coincides with the trend to use pre-fabricated parts in construction, such as roofs and facades. Prefabrication of BIPV can cope with the shortage of skilled workers and leads to reduced cost of manufacturing and installation.
Ice skating
Certainly an inspirational topic to work on. Especially because it is important what we do, for the climate and the future of our children. In that sense, I hope we can look forward to many more white Christmas days in the future. And I hope we may have made a small contribution to keep them. In the end, I find the experience of skating on natural ice something very special, so I hope that we will succeed in keeping this tradition alive close to home!
On behalf of the complete Solliance team I would like to thank you for our interactions in 2017. We are looking forward to spend more energy on working with you next year.
I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year!
